What should I do if my camera Timestamp does not match the Timestamp in VI Monitor Plus?

  • Video Insight VMS
  • Installation/Configuration

To avoid any discrepancies in a court of law, you should either use an NTP server to synchronize the times, or consider disabling the embedded Time display on the camera.

Case 1. Cameras Synchronize Their Time with the VI Server

If the VI Server has been configured as an NTP Server, then configure all cameras to synchronize their time with their respective VI Server.

Case 2. All Devices Synchronize Their Time with an NTP Server

If there is an accessible NTP Server, then configure both cameras and VI Servers to synchronize with that NTP Server.

Case 3. Disable the Time and Date Display on the Camera

Disable the embedded Time and Date display on each camera. By doing this, only the VI Server’s time will remain, and there will be no discrepancies. When exporting a video clip, you will have the option to embed the Server’s timestamp onto the video.
