Supply Chain Management

Basic Approach

i-PRO is committed to realizing a sustainable society through its procurement activities, guided by its corporate philosophy of “Contributing to the security and safety of society”.

As supply chains become increasingly globalized and complex, i-PRO recognizes the importance of fulfilling its responsibilities to society, including reducing environmental impacts, respecting human rights, promoting fair labor practices, and preventing corruption, as an essential element in realizing a sustainable society. Based on this understanding, we position social responsibility initiatives within our supply chain as one of our key priorities.
i-PRO has established the i-PRO Sustainable Procurement Guidelines that outline the issues to be addressed throughout the supply chain. By placing these guidelines at the core of our approach, we will continue to promote partnership-based sustainable procurement activities in close collaboration with our suppliers.

Structure and System

i-PRO’s procurement division is supervised by the Chief Manufacturing Officer (CMFO). Within the division, the sustainable procurement department plays a key role in promoting various initiatives. In collaboration with relevant internal departments, it has established the Sustainable Procurement Guidelines and developed fundamental requirements and evaluation frameworks across the supply chain.
The Sustainability Committee, which is chaired by the CEO, deliberates on the formulation of the guidelines and regularly reviews and discusses the progress of sustainable procurement initiatives. The committee also reports these matters to the Board of Directors, ensuring appropriate governance and oversight.
Going forward, i-PRO will further strengthen cross-functional collaboration within the procurement division and advance sustainable procurement activities in partnership with its suppliers.

Key Initiatives

Sustainable Procurement

To realize sustainable procurement, i-PRO will advance the following initiatives in stages.

Sustainable Procurement Guidelines

i-PRO has established the Sustainable Procurement Guidelines to clearly define the principles and requirements to be addressed across the entire supply chain. These guidelines set out the requirements to be complied with throughout the supply chain and are structured around the following eight key sections. We request our suppliers to comply with these guidelines and to further promote their implementation throughout their own supply chain.

  1. Human Rights and Labor
  2. Health and Safety
  3. Environment
  4. Business Ethics
  5. Information Security
  6. Quality and Safety
  7. Business Continuity Plan
  8. Management System

i-PRO promotes environmentally responsible procurement activities based on the Green Procurement Standards.
The requirements defined under “3. Environment” in the Sustainable Procurement Guidelines constitute these Green Procurement Standards.
The former i-PRO Green Procurement Standards Document (Version 1.0) has been integrated into the i-PRO Sustainable Procurement Guidelines. We request our suppliers’ understanding of and cooperation with our green procurement activities.

Sharing Philosophy

To enhance suppliers’ understanding of the i-PRO Sustainable Procurement Guidelines and i-PRO Sustainability Basic Policy, i-PRO communicates its approach and direction to social responsibility through supplier briefings and other initiatives. By further strengthening partnerships with our suppliers, we promote collaborative efforts toward shared goals.
For its procurement personnel, i-PRO conducts regular education and training programs on sustainable procurement to enhance their knowledge and ensure its application in daily operations. To further embed these initiatives, we plan to reflect sustainability-related standards in supplier selection and incorporate sustainability perspectives throughout the entire procurement process.
In addition, i-PRO provides its suppliers with opportunities for education and training aimed at promoting understanding of sustainable procurement, supporting them in extending these practices to their own organizations and throughout their supply chain.
Through these initiatives to share its philosophy, i-PRO will continue to encourage responsible business conduct across the entire supply chain.

Continuous Implementation of Due Diligence

To identify risks within the supply chain and address potential adverse impacts, i-PRO has established a mechanism for conducting regular due diligence. Supply chain risks are identified through Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs) based on the i-PRO Sustainable Procurement Guidelines, as well as through interviews and other measures. Based on the results of these risk assessments, we consider necessary actions and works to advance sustainable procurement.

Responsible Minerals Sourcing

i-PRO promotes the investigation of conflict minerals in alignment with international frameworks and industry guidelines.
When i-PRO receives survey requests from customers through its sales divisions and other channels, it conducts investigations into the minerals used in the target products using the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) and the Extended Minerals Reporting Template (EMRT) provided by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI). We also work in collaboration with our suppliers to ensure transparency regarding the use of minerals such as tin, tungsten, tantalum, and gold (collectively referred to as 3TG), as well as cobalt and mica. The information collected through these efforts is consolidated and reported to customers.
Through these ongoing initiatives, i-PRO will continue to pursue continuous improvement and further enhance its efforts to promote responsible minerals sourcing.

Participation in Initiatives

i-PRO participates in the Supply Chain Subcommittee of Global Compact Network Japan (GCNJ), where it engages in dialogue and exchanges insights with companies from a wide range of industries to advance sustainable procurement. The knowledge gained through these activities is incorporated into i-PRO’s initiatives and contributes to the continuous improvement of its sustainable procurement activities.
