Resource Circulation and Prevention of Pollution

Basic Approach

i-PRO is committed to conserving the global environment through its business activities with the aim of realizing a sustainable society.
i-PRO complies with environmental laws and regulations while continuously improving its environmental management systems, and positions environmental protection and pollution prevention as important management priorities.
i-PRO also supports the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact (UNGC) and engages in environmental activities in line with international frameworks.

Resource Circulation Initiatives

From the perspective of resource circulation, i-PRO is working to realize a recycling-oriented society by effectively utilizing the resources used in its business activities and by suppressing waste generation and reducing emissions.
Based on its Sustainable Procurement Guidelines, i-PRO promotes environmentally responsible procurement and continuously works to reduce waste and chemical substance emissions in product development and manufacturing.

Pollution Prevention and Chemical Substance Management

In terms of pollution prevention, i-PRO appropriately and strictly manages chemical substances used in its products and production activities in accordance with laws, regulations, and internal standards.
i-PRO complies with domestic and international environmental regulations, clearly identifies prohibited and controlled substances, and has established Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines while building a management system in collaboration with suppliers.
Through these initiatives, i-PRO works to prevent environmental pollution and promote sustainable resource circulation.

For an overview and the latest version of the Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (Product Version), please see here.

Organization and Systems

i-PRO has established a group-wide sustainability promotion framework led by top management, aiming to realize a sustainable society.
Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, the Sustainability Committee (chaired by the CEO) plays a central role in formulating policies, monitoring progress, and reporting to the Board on key issues such as recycling resources and preventing pollution.
i-PRO has also established subcommittees for each theme. These subcommittees coordinate with the Risk and Compliance Committee to oversee initiatives across all group divisions and domestic/international locations.

Key Initiatives

Reducing Plastic in Packaging Materials

i-PRO works continuously to reduce waste and promote recycling for environmental conservation.
i-PRO is working actively to eliminate and reduce plastic in packaging materials, focusing particularly on switching to paper cushioning materials. By switching to paper-based cushioning materials (corrugated cardboard), i-PRO has achieved to change reduced plastic use while maintaining required packaging strength and protective performance.

Significantly Reducing Plastic Usage while Ensuring Strength

i-PRO has replaced all expanded polyethylene (EPE) cushioning materials, the primary packaging material for past models, with paper materials (corrugated cardboard). This has reduced plastic usage in packaging materials by approximately 80% compared to past models*1.

  • WV-S25/X25 series

For optional product packaging air caps, i-PRO is shifting to kraft paper (embossed finish).

i-PRO is also switching to cardboard for Medical Vision models that use expanded polystyrene (EPS).
(As of December 2025, select models only)

Ensures Packaging Cushioning Performance under High Temperature and Humidity Conditions

Cardboard is susceptible to degradation under high temperature and humidity storage environments. Through repeated design and validation, i-PRO optimized the packaging structure to achieve cushioning performance almost equivalent to expanded polyethylene (EPE).

Simplifying the integrated structure of the cardboard cushioning material also facilitates easy disassembly and removal of packaging materials by equipment installers, enhancing recyclability.

Future Initiatives

i-PRO is committed to contributing further to environmental protection by reducing plastic in packaging materials. i-PRO will continue to expand the range of models that support this packaging, challenging ourselves to apply this approach to models with more complex packaging structures and to introduce environmentally friendly recycled materials and new materials.

Reduction of Emissions of Harmful Substances

i-PRO works to reduce environmental impact and provide safe, reliable products by appropriately managing chemical substances throughout the entire product lifecycle.
From design and development through procurement, manufacturing, and shipping, i-PRO complies with domestic and international environmental laws and regulations such as the RoHS Directive, REACH Regulation, POPs Convention, and Minamata Convention, continuously promoting manufacturing with reduced environmental impact.
Based on our Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines, i-PRO strictly manages chemical substances contained in products and components. i-PRO clearly defines prohibited and controlled substances and, through collaboration with suppliers, rigorously obtain certificates of non-use and substance content information.
i-PRO also utilizes industry-standard formats such as chemSHERPA to ensure information transparency and reliability.

  • Design and development stage: Actively adopting environmentally friendly materials that exclude prohibited substances
  • Procurement stage: Strengthening chemical substance management across the entire supply chain
  • Manufacturing stage: Minimizing chemical substance use in processes and preventing residues and transfers
  • Shipping stage: Preventing contamination by regulated substances even in packaging materials and labels

Through these initiatives, i-PRO contributes to the realization of a sustainable society while preventing environmental pollution.

Promotion of Green Products and Green Factory

i-PRO is working to continuously reduce CO2 emissions, waste volumes, and chemical substance emissions during activities at business sites and factories in order to develop and manufacture products and services with reduced environmental impact. In particular, i-PRO manages chemical substances as follows.

Chemical Substance Management
■ Management of Chemical Substances in Products
i-PRO complies with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, and works to procure materials with low environmental impact with the cooperation of our business partners.
■ Management of Chemical Substances at Factories
i-PRO complies with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, identifies and appropriately manages chemical substances that have harmful effects on human health and the environment. i-PRO engages in continuous production activities that prioritize safety and reduced environmental impact.
■ Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines
i-PRO publishes “Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines” that stipulate prohibited and controlled substances in products and factories, and requests suppliers to comply with them as necessary.

The “Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Products)” prohibit the use of chemical substances (environmentally hazardous substances) contained in raw materials, parts, etc. that make up products manufactured and sold by i-PRO, and require management. The purpose of this is to clarify the substances that are considered hazardous substances, to ensure thorough awareness within our company and to our suppliers, and to improve the environmental quality of our products.
The chemical substances designated as “Prohibited Substances” and “Controlled Substances” under the Chemical Substance Management Rank Guidelines (Products) are aligned with the substances managed under chemSHERPA, a chemical information communication scheme widely used in the industry. For details and explanations of the substances managed under chemSHERPA, please refer to the official chemSHERPA website.

Note: chemSHERPA is not managed or operated by i-PRO.
