Climate Change

Basic Approach

i-PRO recognizes climate change as one of the most serious and urgent global environmental issues. As a corporate group supporting the security and safety of society, i-PRO positions contributing to global environmental conservation as our social responsibility, and promotes sustainable business activities.
i-PRO supports international frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and climate change-related laws and regulations in countries and regions, including Japan, and are advancing initiatives aligned with these. i-PRO views climate change as both a business risk and an opportunity for growth. i-PRO works to reduce CO2 emissions by lowering the environmental impact of our products and services and through energy-saving activities at our offices and factories.
Furthermore, our i-PRO Global Environmental Policy identifies realizing a low-carbon society, effective use of resources, and appropriate management of harmful substances as key priorities. Based on this, i-PRO is promoting the following key initiatives.

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions (switching to CO2-free electricity at manufacturing and development sites)
  • Contributing to a recycling-oriented society through effective resource utilization and waste reduction
  • Developing and providing products and services with low environmental impact

i-PRO also supports the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). Through dialogue with stakeholders, i-PRO aims to align our climate change response with enhancing corporate value and fulfilling our social responsibilities.

Our approach to climate change is based on our Global Environmental Policy.

Organization and Systems

i-PRO positions climate change as one of its most critical environmental issues and has established a group-wide promotion framework under the supervision of the Board of Directors.
The Sustainability Committee, chaired by the CEO as the top management representative, serves as the central body and deliberates on fundamental policies and measures concerning climate change and regularly reports progress and outcomes to the Board of Directors. Subcommittees responsible for specific themes operate under the main committee, coordinating efforts across all group divisions and domestic and international locations while collaborating with the Risk and Compliance Committee.
Based on the i-PRO Global Environmental Policy, this committee promotes efforts to decarbonize, improve energy efficiency, and reduce the environmental impact of products and services. It manages climate-related risks as a management issue while also pursuing technological innovation and business development as growth opportunities.

Key Initiatives

Reduction of Energy Consumption

To realize a low-carbon society, i-PRO is working to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions at every stage of our products, services, and business operations. To contribute to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement, i-PRO has identified reducing CO2 emissions from our business activities as one of our key priorities. i-PRO works to maximize energy-saving performance from the product design stage and optimize energy usage across all offices, including manufacturing, logistics, and offices.
i-PRO has already begun converting lighting to LED and optimizing some air conditioning systems' operation at manufacturing and development sites. Moving forward, i-PRO will continue to introduce energy monitoring systems, including for production lines, and pursue continuous improvement (PDCA) of energy intensity. i-PRO is also promoting the expanded use of renewable energy and other forms of CO2-free electricity, developing products with lower environmental impact, and striving to reduce emissions across the entire supply chain.

Utilization of CO2-free Electricity

To realize a low-carbon society, i-PRO is actively advancing the transition of energy sources in its business activities.
At major domestic and international sites, we are progressively expanding the introduction of renewable energy and other forms of CO2-free electricity, aiming to achieve CO2-free electricity for manufacturing, development, and office use. Specifically at the Saga Factory, i-PRO is advancing the procurement of CO2-free electricity while optimizing energy usage by combining this with improvements in the efficiency of lighting, air conditioning, and production equipment.
At overseas sites, i-PRO is also formulating introduction plans tailored to each region’s renewable energy systems and electricity markets, promoting global-level reductions in environmental impact.
These initiatives are based on the i-PRO Global Environmental Policy, and aim to realize low-carbon management through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Information Disclosures Based on the TCFD Recommendations

i-PRO recognizes the impact of climate change on our business activities as a key management issue, and are advancing our response to the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
i-PRO is currently identifying climate-related risks and opportunities and developing an evaluation process, including scenario analysis, with disclosure planned for 2026 (FY2025 report).
i-PRO is progressively developing disclosure items based on the four pillars recommended by the TCFD (Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, and Indicators and Targets.) This includes clarifying the Board of Directors’ supervision framework, ensuring alignment with materiality, and setting greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
Going forward, i-PRO will further deepen dialogue with investors and stakeholders through the disclosure of climate-related information, promoting sustainability management that simultaneously enhances corporate value and advances the transition to a low-carbon society.

Goals and Indicators

To contribute to realizing a low-carbon society, i-PRO has set reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as a key mid-to-long-term goal.
Using FY2022 as the base year, i-PRO has established the following reduction targets and are promoting energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy adoption, and energy-saving products and services.

Category Indicators (KPI) Target year Base year comparison Scope of application
Scope 1 + 2 GHG emissions reduction rate FY2030 -42% Company-owned sites (development, manufacturing, offices, etc.)
Scope 3 GHG emissions reduction rate FY2030 -25% Overall supply chain
CO2-free electricity CO2-free rate in electricity usage End of FY2027 100% Major domestic sites (Fukuoka and Saga factories, etc.)

These targets align with the fundamental principles of realizing a low-carbon society, effective resource utilization, and appropriate management of harmful substances, as outlined in the i-PRO Global Environmental Policy.
i-PRO is strengthening its efforts to mitigate climate change by improving energy efficiency in manufacturing and logistics processes, switching to non-fossil power sources such as renewable energy and other forms of CO2-free electricity, and reducing emissions through collaboration with suppliers.
Going forward, i-PRO will continue to make disclosures based on the TCFD recommendations while continuously conducting quantitative assessments of risks and opportunities, aiming to achieve both a sustainable society and corporate value.

  • CO2-free electricity refers to electricity that is regarded as having zero CO2 emissions on a practical basis through the use of environmental attributes such as non-fossil certificates.
This electricity is not limited to renewable energy sources.
