What is the difference between "Addition" and "Playback-only" displayed in "Status" during HDD kitting?

The difference between them is as below.
Addition : Unused (New) HDD
Playback-only : Used HDD (e.g. HDD replaced from another NX recorder)
-> To enable recording on the playback-only HDDs :
- Format the HDDs
- Perform embedding process
