Why is image color pink / purple when connecting a multi-sensor camera to a 30W CISCO switch?

  • Network Cameras
  • Troubleshooting

Multi-sensor cameras such as WV-S8574L require PoE+ power supply. The IR-cut filter does not work with PoE power supply, which may result in a pink or purple screen.

・WV-S8574L requires approximately 25.4W of power. Therefore, it must be powered by a PoE+ power supply (class 4 device)

・When WV-S8574L is connected to PoE power supply, the color of the image will be pink/purple because IR cut filter and other functions do not work properly

Note that some PoE+ power supplies that support LLDP, such as CISCO, operate as PoE if LLDP is not enabled.

Reference information:
With new 9000 series Cisco switches LLDP still needs to be enabled combined with a separate RUN command to allow for 30W on the port, just enabling LLDP does not give 30W on the ports.
Below is a link to the Cisco website that also explains this and ways to troubleshoot this and how to fix on the newer 9000 series switches.
