What happens to the ASM license if Windows needs to be reinstalled?

  • Management Software(ASM)
  • Browser/OS support
  • Installation/Configuration

Problem Description

There is a problem with the Windows OS, or the hard drive starts to experience mechanical issues. The HDD will need to be replaced and/or the OS reinstalled.
What happens to the WV-ASM300 license that was originally installed?

If it’s only the HDD that’s being replaced, or the Windows OS being reinstalled, and the PC hardware is still the same, then it’s possible that the ASM software once installed will obtain the same MPR ID.

The 2 main scenarios are as follows.

Scenario 1: The MPR ID is the Same

In this case, you can enter the same Registration Key, that you originally obtained, to activate your ASM software.

Scenario 2: The MPR ID has Changed

Even if it’s the same hardware, if there are multiple NICs (network interface cards) on the PC, it’s possible a different MPR ID is obtained.

If this is the case, then you will need to request that your ASM license be reset.
Contact i-PRO Technical Support to request an ASM license reset.

After the reset, you may use the original activation codes (Activation Key / Registration ID) and apply them to the new MPR ID.
