Post Installation - How to Enable Advanced Shared Database

  • Video Insight VMS
  • Operation

Criteria:

  • Video Insight Software is on v7.10.0 or above.
  • SQL Server is installed locally.
  • Video Insight Software currently utilizing remote SQL Server as primary database source.

Follow the steps below if you have performed an UPGRADE from v7.9.X to v7.10.X:

  • Find the VI Enterprise folder to run the Initialization Wizard to change/modify SQL Server location.
    • VI Enterprise folder is located at each Server Machine where the VI Server is installed.
  • Default folder path for the Initialization.exe is: C:\Program Files\VI Enterprise\Enterprise Service\init\Initialization.exe (See Image Below):

  • Run the Initialization.exe as an administrator (Donut-Like Icon).
  • This will open the Video Insight Initialization Wizard (See Image Below):

  • Keep Clicking “Next” till you reach the Server Configuration page (See Below):
  • Click on “Advanced”.
  • First check – SQL Server Location (Remote SQL Server)
    • Check the SQL Server location address and credentials.
    • Make adjustments/corrections as needed.
  • Second check – SQL Server Location (Local SQL Server)
    • Check the SQL Server as Localhost or local server’s IP address.
    • Check the credentials to make sure the local SQL server has the correct information.

Note:

if you install SQL Server manually on the local server, make sure you add the right credentials during the Initialization Wizard. If the local SQL server was installed along with the Video Insight Software, software or the end-user may have created a password already. Please check and add those credentials during the initialization process. If you need help in this part, please call Technical Support for help.

  • Make sure the SQL Server Location is the “remote SQL Server”, and the local SQL Server Location is the “Local SQL Server”.

  • Once you have completed the SQL server configuration, hit next and click Finish.
  • This will start configuring the Advanced Shared Database.

  • Restart the IP server service one more time for good measures.

Note:

Once the Advanced Shared Database is configured, you must transfer the data using the Data Migration Tool which is available at www.downloadvi.com.
