How do I properly setup and configure a Multi-Sensor camera for VI?

  • Video Insight VMS
  • Installation/Configuration

Problem Description:

The camera is not recording while set on Motion Only and you’re having issues adding the camera in VI. Only one lens/sensor shows up.

For Motion Only recording, you must configure a VMD area in the camera. And to see all lenses/sensors on these cameras, you must use the Shared IP Address feature of VI.

Complete the setup in the camera’s web interface. Go to the alarm section, then go into VMD and setup the motion zone for each lens, including the sensitivity and hit “set” to save your settings after editing each lens.

After, in VI Monitor Plus, add the camera, using the IP address, as many times as you have lens’ on the camera. From there configure the properties the same way, same manufacturer, and model as well. (If it’s 4 lenses, add it 4 times, if it’s 3, add it 3 times, so on and so forth) From there in the camera properties, under the main general tab, there will be an option to use “Shared IP Address”, make sure the box is checked and each lens needs to have a number associated with them. For example, Lens 1 will be Shared IP #1, Lens 2 will be Shared IP #2, Lens 3 will be Shared IP #3, Lens 4 will be shared IP #4, same principle as adding an encoder, and this must be used when utilizing the same IP address.
