I get an "It is operating with POE Class 0 Power Supply" error, even though it is connected to a POE+ switch. What do I do?

  • Network Cameras
  • Installation/Configuration

Problem Description

Multi-Sensor Cameras, such as WV-S8531, shows an error “It is operating with POE Class 0 Power Supply. Connect the correct power supply” even when the customer claims that cameras are connected to a Cisco POE+ switch with good amount of wattage and Class 4 distributed on the camera.

Please Enable LLDP Function on the Cisco Switch Settings.

This will fix the Class 0 power supply error message.

Information on LLDP

LLDP is a neighbor discovery protocol that is used for network devices to advertise information about themselves to other devices on the network. This protocol runs over the data-link layer, which allows two systems running different network layer protocols to learn about each other.
