VaxALPR Integration with i-PRO Active Guard for Milestone

Scenario: This page explains how to integrate VaxALPR with i-PRO Active Guard to identify and manage vehicle events through detection of license plates and attributes such as make, model, and color. By following this guide, users will be able to:

The integration enables the identification of three types of events:
- Registered License Plate Detection: Identifies vehicles with license plates that are registered in the system’s watchlist.
- Unregistered License Plate Detection: Identifies vehicles with license plates that are not registered in the system’s watchlist.
- Registered Advanced Vehicle Detection: Identifies vehicles with specific attributes set in the watchlist (e.g., make, model, and color).
When these events occur, users can execute actions, monitor, and search watchlist events.
1. Installation of VaxALPR
1-1. Download
Download the application from the Download Center. To download, an account is required.
Choose the application based on the type of camera SoC.
- CV2x : VaxALRP-MMC On Camera - i-PRO CV2x
- CV52 : VaxALRP-MMC On Camera - i-PRO CV5x
Select the area and download it.
If the camera's SoC is unknown, If the camera's SoC is unknown, refer to the following page.

1-2. Camera configuration before installation
- Resolution
To use Vaxtor's recommended resolution of 1280x720 or 1920x1080, set the resolution to either JPEG or Stream in the camera firmware settings. Make sure to configure this resolution setting before installing the Vaxtor app. - (CV25m camera only) RAM capacity expansion mode
For "RAM capacity expansion mode," select "On" and then click "Set."
1-3. Installation
Check the "Install new Ext. software", click the "Choose File", select the downloaded application, and then click the "Execute".
1-4. Activate license
For pre-installed models, you can use a 30-day trial license by selecting "Activate trial license". Only online activation is available, so please check network configuration in advance. If you have a product key, clicking the "Show licensing options" button will display the same license screen as other models.
To activate using product key, contact i-PRO regional representative to purchase a software license. You will be sent a Product Key which looks something like: a13c5eb4-a962-406c-99e0-93f8fdfd9ae7.
Licenses can be redeemed in 2 ways:
- Online (Camera must have access to https://licensing.vaxtor.com)
Type or copy in the provided Product Key and select the Disk icon to submit the Product Key
- Offline
Select Get C2V. This saves a c2v file to your computer’s Download Directory.
Upload and generate the V2C at https://licensing.vaxtor.com using your product key to login
Select Upload V2C and browse to the V2C file to upload it
1-5. Other configuration
Set the countries in [Setting].
Enable "Extended Analytics" to use vehicles brand, model, class and color information on Active Guard.
Ensure that the resolution is set to 1920x1080 or 1280x720 (Vaxtor's recommended resolution).
To work with Active Guard, check "Active" and select "i-PRO Active Guard" for the "Destination" on [Reports] - [ONVIF].
1-6. Check the detection
The most recent plate reads are stored in the camera’s internal memory and can be viewed by selecting the Plates menu.
2.Installation of i-PRO Active Guard
Refer to the "Milestone" - "1. i-PRO Active Guard" manual on the following page to perform the installation.

For new installation of i-PRO Active Guard server, required configuration will be done by installer.
For adding new camera or app on existing Active Guard server, refer to the manual, "Register Cameras".
3. Watchlist and action configuration
3-1. Creating a Watch List
Open [Smart Client] and select [i-PRO Active Guard].
Select the "Setup watchlists".
Choose [LPR].
Click "Manage license plate" in the top right corner.
Click "Manage groups".
Enter the group name and click "Add" button.
Click "Save group" button, then click "×" button in the top right corner to close.
Click "New license plate".
Enter the license plate, select the group and country, then click "Save" button.
Click "×" button in the top right corner to close.
Click "×" button in the top right corner to close.
Click "Create New watchlists".
Disable "Detect by vehicle appearance only".
In the group section, select the group you created earlier.
Under Trigger, choose "When license plate in the selected group is detected".
Click "Save watchlist", then click "×" button in the top right corner to close.
Note: If you want to "detect license plates that are not registered", select "When other license plate which is not in the selected group is detected" under Trigger.
When using "Registered Advanced Vehicle Detection," enable "Detect by vehicle appearance only" and select conditions such as "Vehicle type", "Vehicle color", and "Vehicle brand".
3-2. Action configration
Open "Management Client".
Select [Rules and Events] - [Rules], right-click, and click [add Rules].
In Step 1, set the name of the rule.
Click "event".
Select [Analytics Events] - [Analytics Events] and then select the target event based on the trigger chosen when creating the watchlist.

Click "OK".
Select the target camera and click ”Next”.
In Step 2, click "Next." If you want to specify a time, make the necessary changes.
In Step 3, select the action you want to execute. After specifying the action, click "Next."
In the example, the action is to open AUX on the camera created using i-PRO Maximizer.
By using i-PRO Maximizer, users can send CGI commands defined by them. For more details, please refer to this page.
The CGI for Aux Open/Close is as follows.
- Aux Open: /cgi-bin/pioctrl?almctrl=no
- Aux Close: /cgi-bin/pioctrl?almctrl=nc
In Step 4, click "Finish." If you want to set an exit condition, specify it.
4. Monitoring and searching watchlist events
4-1. Monitoring watchlist events
Open [Smart Client] and select [Alarm Manager].
Right-click on the row displaying the item name in the list, and check both "Tag" and "Object."
When an alarm that matches the watchlist occurs, it will be displayed in the list.
The "Type" column displays the alarm types (Registered license plate detection, Unregistered license plate detection, Registered advanced vehicle detection), the "Tag" column shows the group name, and the "Object" column shows the license number.
4-2. Searching watchlist events
Select [Smart Client] - [i-PRO Active Guard] - [Event].
Select conditions such as "Time range", "Cameras", "LPR", and click "Search" to display the reports. In LPR, filtering is possible using the created watchlists.
A list of events that match the conditions will be displayed.
You can play it by clicking on the thumbnail.
5. Search for license plates by plate number, MMC, etc
5-1. Select [Smart Client] - [i-PRO Active Guard].
5-2. Select [Forensic] and set the date, camera, and LPR filter options, then click Search.
The filter options are as follows

5-3. The search results matching the criteria will be displayed in a list.
5-4. You can play it by clicking on the thumbnail.
5. Change the thumbnail display option to "Show only license plate" (Optional)
As an option, it is possible to display only the license plate as a thumbnail.
Click the more menu in the top right corner and select "Settings".
In "Thumbnail content," choose "License plate" and click "Close."
Restart Smart Client. After restarting, the search results will display thumbnails showing only the license plates.
