SD Card Alarm

This page explains how to integrate SD Card Alarm (Edge storage medium failure) with Genetec Security Center.

1. Camera Settings  

1. Open the camera settings screen and go to [Basic] > [SD memory card].
2. Select [Use] for [SD memory card].
3. Select [On] for [Overwrite].
4. Select the target stream for [Overwrite].
5. Select [Schedule] for [Save trigger], then click [Set].

 

6. Go to [Setup] > [Schedule].
7. Select [Recording to SD] for [Schedule mode] under the [Schedule 1 (White)].
8. Select the target day and time for [Time range], then click [Set].

 

9. Confirm that the [REC] icon is red in [Live] view. 

 

Note:
The camera [Alarm] > [Notification] settings are automatically configured when the camera is registered with Security Center.
If alarm notifications are not received, ensure that the [Destination port] and [Destination server address] are configured correctly.

 

2. Genetec Settings

2.1 Event Notification Settings

Configure the settings so that alarms can be received in Security Desk.

1. Open Security Desk, go to [Options] > [Events] > [Event options].
2. Check [Edge storage medium failure], then click [Save].

 

3. Go to [Security Desk] > [Tasks] > [Monitoring].
4. Click [Monitoring] in the bottom-left menu, then click [+] to add the target camera.

 

2.2 Event-to-action Settings (Optional)

When SD Card Alarm event occurs, you can configure an action to be executed.
As an example, this section describes how to display alarm notifications on the [Alarm monitoring] tab.

2.2.1 Alarm Settings

1. Open [Config Tool].
2. Go to [Config Tool] > [Alarms].
3. Click [Add an entity], and select [Alarm].

 

4. Enter "SD card Alarm" in [Name], and then click [Apply].

 

5. Go to the [Properties] tab.
6. Click [+] in Recipients, and select the target users. Click [Add].
7. Click [Apply].

 

2.2.2 Action Settings

1. In Security Center, go to [Config Tool] > [Automation] > [Actions].
2. Click [+]. 

 

3. Set the parameters as follows.

  • When: Select [Edge storage medium failure].
  • From: Select the target camera.
  • Action: Select [Trigger an alarm].
  • Alarm: Select the alarm you created.

 

4. Click [Save].

 

3. How It Works

3.1 Verifying Event Reception on the Monitoring Tab

1. Open Security Desk, go to the [Monitoring] tab.
2. When an SD Card Alarm occurs, an [Edge storage medium failure] event appears in the [Monitoring] tab.

 

3.2 Verifying Alarm Reception on the Alarm Monitoring Tab

1. Open Security Desk, go to the [Alarm monitoring] tab.
2. When an SD Card Alarm occurs, an [SD card Alarm] alarm appears in the [Alarm monitoring] tab.
