11.9 Configure the settings relating to audio [Audio]
Click the [Audio] tab on the “Image/Audio” page. (→9.1 How to display the setup menu, 9.2 How to operate the setup menu)
The settings relating to audio can be configured on this page.
Note
Images and audio will not be synchronized. Therefore, images and audio may not always match.
Audio may be interrupted depending on the network environment.
[Audio mode]
Select the communication mode used for audio data transmission/reception between the camera and the PC from the following.
Off: Does not receive/transmit audio between the camera and the PC. Therefore, the settings and controls relating to audio will be invalidated.
Mic input: The PC receives audio data from the camera. Audio can be heard with images on the PC. Images and audio will not be synchronized.
Default: Off
Note
Howling may be generated depending on usage conditions. If howling is generated, prevent sound generated by the PC from entering the PC microphone.
When “Multicast” is selected for “Transmission type” on the [JPEG/H.264] tab of the “Image/Audio” page, “Audio output” will become unavailable while monitoring H.264 images. To enable “Audio output”, click the [JPEG] button on the “Live” page.
“Audio recording” and “Audio detection” only operate when “Mic input” is selected for “Audio mode”.
[Audio encoding format]
Select the audio encoding format from G.726 and G.711.
Default: G.726
Note
G.711 is available only when “Mic input” is selected for “Audio mode”.
[Audio bit rate]
Select “16kbps” or “32kbps” for the audio bit rate used to transmit/receive audio data.
Default: 32kbps
Note
When using “Bandwidth control(bit rate)” (→17.1 Configure the network settings [Network]) with a small bit rate, select “16kbps” for “Audio bit rate” if you want to prioritize the JPEG refresh interval or the H.264 transmission priority.
[Audio bit rate] is unavailable when “G.711” is selected for “Audio encoding format”.
[Mic input volume (Camera to PC)]
Select a volume level on the PC to hear audio transmitted from the camera.
Mic High: The volume level will become high. This setting will be applied when audio is input to the camera using a microphone.
Mic Middle: The volume level will become middle. This setting will be applied when audio is input to the camera using a microphone.
Mic Low: The volume level will become low. This setting will be applied when audio is input to the camera using a microphone.
Default: Mic Middle
Note
These settings are linked with the volume settings of “Audio recording” and “Audio detection”.
[Mic input interval (Camera to PC)]
Select an interval for audio reception from the following.
20ms/ 40ms/ 80ms/ 160ms
Default: 40ms
Note
When a shorter interval is selected, the delay time will be shorter. When a longer interval is selected, audio interruption may be diminished even though the delay time will be longer. Select the interval according to the network environment.
[Permission level of audio trans./recep.]
Select an access level for audio transmission/reception from the following.
1. Level 1 only/ 2. Level 2 or higher/ 3. All users
Default: 3. All users
